Lakshadweep is a Union Territory formed by a group of islands in the Laccadive Sea off the southern-western coast of India. It forms the smallest Union Territory in India with total surface area of just 32 km square. With a population of just under 70,000 according to the survey of 2011, it is no surprise that it has only 0.75MW of commissioned solar PV capacity with majority installations in ground mount and floating arrangement. Government of India has set a target of 10MW rooftop solar deployment on the islands of Lakshadweep.
